Are the teams lobbying for NVSL to standardize the season? (Hope so)
What do you mean by standardized? The Return To Competition Committee and board is working on that. What they come up with will be standard across the league.
Maybe they mean “normal?”
Perhaps, but the season won't be normal as in "back to 2019" normal. There will be changes that have to be made. There will most likely also be some flexibility. For example, if the league allows head to head competition and a host club board decides they can't host both teams then they could swim a their own pools and merge the data. A lot will still depend on restrictions from the Governor and VDH, particularly spacing and capacity.
I think that is fair to say. It is tough to see what the landscape will be this summer. CDC stated that 20% of the eligible population is vaccinated. That will go up dramatically in the next few months. Numbers will go down. So there might be light at the end of the tunnel where distance restrictions will be lifted which means timers, teams, etc. The committee will need to have multiple plans in place and be flexible. 1. Current standard might be no spectators, limited parents on deck, one team and merge data (most restrictive). 2 The next level might be no spectators, limited parents on deck, two teams but done in blocks by age groups - clearing the pool between groups. 3. No spectators, vaccinated parents on deck - full compliment, two teams no dilineation between age groups. 4. Vaccinated spectators, vaccinated parents on deck.... You get the idea. But it looks like vaccinated individuals will have their restrictions soon eased byt he CDC. Fauci is already saying that vaccinated people can have small maskless gatherings with one another.
