Ah got it but not sure that I see it with this group.  They have been able to do what they always wanted to do at their prior club and more but just were never allowed to previously.  I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't look to bring more quality coaches in to reinforce their staff.  SYC seems to have a large player pool in comparison to nearby clubs so I would think that they would to make sure that they have high quality coaches.  I'm sure the would be rewarded for the growth of the club so far and more.[/quote]

they have a large player pool because coaches take players with them. If you want to gauge player pools, look at the size of their rec program, and look at how many kids are leaving other clubs to join them on their own. Neither of these seems t be spectacularly large [/quote]

Totally fair statements and as a pre & post coaching change SYC parent of younger kids, here are my basic thoughts on that.  There's only really been 1 offseason strangled by COVID since they got here, so the measure of people coming in (or out) isn't a terribly accurate one yet.  If you only consider the first season as they were arriving, characterized by a number of kids following and not as many leaving, that's a positive, but it's a one time thing.   Since many folks chose not to change clubs (both from reading this forum and talking to several coach friends), summer 2020 isn't the best measure of player movement good or bad.  Maybe we'll see a difference in incoming or outgoing if there's a more normal situation this spring during tryout season, or at least with a season of getting used to covid restrictions and what that means.

As for rec program - agree, this doesn't seem to be huge on it's own.  I've been fascinated by the number of clubs broken down into this close area in comparison to my travel days 20 years ago, so to some extent, I think this will continue to slow down the SYC/LMVSC/Gunston, even South County group of players.  Especially being closely bordered around that by Alexandria/BRYC as larger programs and even PWSI (although they're farther away and no idea if they're bigger or smaller).

As for jersey's, I assume that was mostly tongue in cheek/make fun of coaches being hired guns, but the club told us 18 months ago that these jerseys were going to be for 2 years and then we'd all need to buy new ones, so if they've kept to that schedule, we should remember that and not complain too much.    My kids are about to outgrow their sizes anyway, so I'm going to be stuck buying new ones either way so if they want to go adidas to nike or change the logo on the front, go for it.[/quote]
