Indian-American here. My DD and I watched this series and were addicted. It is like a train wreck that you cannot tear your eyes away from. OMG!! I knew of families like Pradyumna's and Aditya's. These two basically held out for really good looking girls. The girls know the score. They will live in the lap of luxury as long as they stay home and raise the kids. Hideous and horrible. I loved the lawyer guy who ended up with the guyanese girl. Really nice.
I agree with the holding out comment. So many people thought Prahyuman was gay. I think quite the opposite. He is looking for the best of the best. He knows what he has to offer and he isn’t willing to settle.
Non-Indian here: Is there a reason why he needs a matchmaker for this? I would think at a certain level in society you would be meeting these women; at your store, at society functions, parties, etc. My wealthy Indian friends who have had "arranged" marriages haven't used matchmakers per se. More like the parents trade the biodatas amongst family, friends, friends of friends, etc. trying to set up their kids with others that are in their extended circle and somewhat "vetted." I would think if you are wealthy you would be a lot more socially connected and able to do some of this yourself. It seemed like Prahyuman was looking for a trophy wife, would he not know tons of women who would be down for that? It could be a "love" marriage like we see in societies around the world. He could have been more clear about that with Sima also, it was crazy to me she was trotting in these cute but not gorgeous girls from the countryside for someone like him who clearly wasn't interested. Cut to the chase, Sima- all of the compatability stuff is sort of bunk with him, he wants A GUY so bring him the hottest you've got.
FTFY
Lol. I tend to agree but this seems to be up in the air per PPs so responded in kind. Maybe he wants a Diane Von Furstenburg/Barry Diller thing? No idea.
