^ Chances
Every post I've seen on this board about somewhere else being a "disaster" has been regarding a state that had a very low level of cases for the last three months, but which is now seeing a trend upward. Because they, unlike NY and other places in the NE, actually flattened the curve. Unless we all stay inside until a vaccine is available, the curve was going to start back up again when we stopped isolating. You folks are moving the goalposts.
No they hadn't flattened the curve. The large numbers of illnesses hadn't reached these areas yet, so they lifted restrictions and will now see the effect on their health care system. NOW is their chance to flatten their curve and they have way more information than the coasts did at the beginning of this.
You obviously haven’t actually looked at the curves. At one point Louisiana had more cases than NY. Not per capita — more cases. They just drove the curve down faster than NY did. The Southern states all had early cases — remember Albany, GA? Some states did get a week or two break, but the cases came in from NY and other places that were hard hit, so they did, in fact “flatten the curve” by shutting down.
