There's no data like that because it's not collected. There is a little data on police stops by race or stop and frisk.  I'm sure you can Google that.

I think it would be really interesting to have more comprehensive data on police harassment, but not with the time.  Go spend some time in communities outside your bubble and see how the police treat them.  Or if you want do that, listen to what they're saying with an open mind.[/quote]

Ok I’m the poster who asked for information (none of the following responses were me). The problem is, if you’re going to have a radical slogan like “defund the police,” you need to convince me with facts, not just telling me to have an open mind. Especially in a city like DC where MPD is 50% black. When a man was trying to break into my home, I called MPD. The officers who responded were extremely professional and comforting. This is an anecdote that obviously doesn’t describe everyone’s experience with them. So in the same vein anecdotes about unprofessional MPD officers are not going to convince me when you cannot point to any facts or data suggesting MPD is rampant with racists looking to kill innocent black people.[/quote]

There's a lot of information out there on the problems with policing in DC. Not all of it is data because, again, data is not collected. If your threshold is "did someone on DCUM spoon-feed me the information" then you're being really lazy.  Almost as if certain people's lives don't matter to you.  Try harder.[/quote]

Who exactly do you think I am?  I'm just a person interested in making the world s better place. I don't have a political office, a platform, or anything else like that.

Consider how you'd have for into society during slavery.  "Abolish slavery?  Show me some data on how many beatings and rapes there are. I'm not going to learn anything more until you tell me about it.". Really, the kind of people MLK warned us about.

People like you are impossible to have a conversation with. You start shouting “defund the police!”  So someone asks you, ok, why?  Instead of pointing to any evidence whatsoever to back your platform (yes btw this word doesn’t only mean twitter, it can also mean your cause), you just attack them and say “well if you don’t agree with me you must be racist. It’s impossible to learn from or have a meaningful conversation with people like that, and you’re going to need people on your side to pull off something like this. Try talking to people instead of just insulting them. Try pointing to resources, like I dunno, maybe the Office of Police Complaints?  Maybe the independent review of MPD use of force that was done in 2018?  Saying the data doesn’t exist just isn’t true. But surely you knew of these resources, since you’re so invested in this cause. The only thing I agree with one of these posters is that I am definitely an idiot for thinking I could get any useful information out of DCUM. [/quote]
