In the show, she does have that great speech in one of the early episodes with Mia that touches on the fact that she loves Izzy so much that it consumes her, but I don't know why they changed this plotline. I guess to make it easier for her to slip off and have the almost affair with Jamie? Or to make Elena more unsympathetic. I thought it was a big flaw. But otherwise enjoyed the book.
