Too many people is too many people. Too many on the roads. Too many on the sidewalks. Too many in the schools.
I agree. Send them back to Central America. Oh wait, that's not what you meant, is it? Why do we have "immigrants welcome" on the one hand, but "too many" when it's predominantly whites and Asians?
Not taking about the kind of people. Just bodies in general.
Didn't MoCo put a freeze on development to ease school overcrowding? That's a solution.
The CB would never do that. They just gave amazons millions to come here and further urbanize the surrounding area. They really do want Arlington to look like ballston except north of lee highway, where all the connected people live.
If that's the case, then we go back to the old argument that most lower income folks will be priced out eventually, except the ones who are lucky enough to get the CAFs. Then the ship will right itself eventually...
Except that there are more lower income kids living in Arlington now than 25 years ago. The people getting priced out are middle class people who can’t afford to buy or rent and don’t qualify for subsidies. The CB gestures at this issue by calling it the “missing middle” but that’s all it is- a gesture. It’s not that the people in CAFs aren’t lucky, it’s that they aren’t “few”. A single large CAF produces over 100 students, every year, forever. And we build a new one or two in SA every year. Think about how many SFH are needed to do the same, especially given the prevalence of 30 year mortgages and generational turnover of homes. Just wait until Barcroft Apts is expanded.
