OP here. Our other option right now is to stay put where we are. I think I’m juggling the fact that this will essentially be a start up(yes, I’m aware that the model is in place). We listed with the hope that more would be in place at this point. For example, STAFF, outdoor space, also the fact that we haven’t been given the opportunity to view the inside of the building. Also, upon reading about union effort it just seems like the current staff not particularly pleased with the working conditions.
I probably wouldn't go if you have another option you are excited about (you like your daycare and have a good IB your guaranteed to by K), otherwise at PK3 you have nothing to loose. for pk4 & K however I definitely wouldn't leave a place my kid is already happy for a start up
Our preK 4 child is currently happy at his school and we are leaving for MV. Change is easy at this age, and it doesn’t take a lot to make toddlers happy in school where it’s all play base. Our child will realize later that it was the right move when he goes to DCI, and we don’t have to uproot him from his friends, sport clubs, activities, etc..to move for viable middle or high schools.
Until 5th grade when only 60% of his class gets into DCI.... so either him or his best friend are being uprooted.
I think you guys are putting too much extras on this. There will naturally be a lot of kids that leave before DCI. I bet in 6 years, it will be more like a 90% shot of getting into DCI.
They would need to see 37 kids leave or go to a different middle in order for you to get to your 90% ... DC is in the middle of a surge of families looking to come and stay in the city... it might be higher then 60 but it definitely won't be 90% . If DCI was a guarantee this thread wouldn't exist all all families would be jumping at the chance to go to the MV8.
Well from the waitlist numbers for a new campus, I would say many of jumping at getting into MV whether it’s for Spanish immersion or middle/high school track, or both. This question was addressed during the tour with the new principal and she said they estimated it at 80%. Whatever the range, we will take 60-80%. Those are very good odds.
