OP here. Our other option right now is to stay put where we are. I think I’m juggling the fact that this will essentially be a start up(yes, I’m aware that the model is in place). We listed with the hope that more would be in place at this point. For example, STAFF, outdoor space, also the fact that we haven’t been given the opportunity to view the inside of the building. Also, upon reading about union effort it just seems like the current staff not particularly pleased with the working conditions.
I probably wouldn't go if you have another option you are excited about (you like your daycare and have a good IB your guaranteed to by K), otherwise at PK3 you have nothing to loose. for pk4 & K however I definitely wouldn't leave a place my kid is already happy for a start up
Our preK 4 child is currently happy at his school and we are leaving for MV. Change is easy at this age, and it doesn’t take a lot to make toddlers happy in school where it’s all play base. Our child will realize later that it was the right move when he goes to DCI, and we don’t have to uproot him from his friends, sport clubs, activities, etc..to move for viable middle or high schools.
DCI is no longer guaranteed
We realize that but high probability of getting in and odds are in your favor. Not all families that year will send their kids to DCI. Some will move out of the area, some will move to the Deal/Wilson boundary, and some will go private. There will be openings from all these movements. Chances that our IB middle will be good enough to send our DS in 5-6 years = 0. Chance of getting into now already overcrowded Deal OOB in middle = 0 Chance that we will want to uproot our good life and move out of the city = 0 Chance of getting into DCI = 60-80% Chance of getting into DCI if they expand in the future = > 60-80% So with those options, odds are pretty good at DCI compared to the rest above. We want Spanish immersion so glad we got into MV and still would take it without the middle and high school track. We realize it’s not guanranteed but it’s just the icing on the cake to have such high probability of having a track to not only middle but also high school.
