Many kids are going to state schools due to cost.  That doesn't mean they are the better school.  It just means more are applying.  Every school on there but [b]Arizona and Ohio is better than Maryland in my opinion[/b].  [/quote]

The Common Data sets tell us otherwise.

UMD-CP and Northeastern are very similar vis-a-vis the Common Data Sets.

Yes.  And because UMD is an equal experience in terms of the student body and education, and has a similarly great reputation.

It is not an equal experience. Come on now. It is not a terrible school, but it is not UVA or UMich. It is the only decent state school in the whole state.  Nothing to compare it to. The only truly smart kids going there are going to due to cost or aid. Most apply for the safety factor. [/quote]
