I thought I’d post something positive in this thread. It’s nice to see positive posts on the national teams once in awhile to break up the monotony of a pointed few on DCUM. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.goal.com/en-us/amp/news/usmnt-u-20s-claim-second-straight-concacaf-title-with-win/qurdo7noag1v1gmc1m2rsyuug Solid stats for the US too in terms of possession and SOG. Happy thanksgiving to all!
No thoughts on how well the U20s played and the implications of that? Why am I not surprised?!
The U20s played well throughout the tournament. Notably, several players on that team, including Alex Mendez (the best player in the tournament, 8 goals) and Uly Llanez (tournament's best XI, 7 goals), are also eligible to play for Mexico. Tab Ramos had in person visit to their families in connection with calling them up for U20 team, while John Hackworth left them both off the U17 squad two years ago. So who coaches the USMNT makes a difference. If we get Hackworth/MLS-old-boys club type, these young players will be ignored and potentially switch to Mexico. as Efrain Alvarez did after he was dropped from youth national team camp.
