This approach is only putting students in harms way by creating an environment that tolerates and unintentionally protects the gangs. Gangs want to make money in the criminal activities and be able to recruit younger members - MS and ES. They don't want attention. MCPS is basically encouraging them by trying to hide these issues so MCPS doesn't look bad. The apologists that claim white students in schools with gangs are fine because the gangs leave them alone are the worst. Its not safe for the white kids to be around gangs and its even more dangerous for the latino and AA kids who deserve a chance to finish school without being forced into a gang. [/quote]
