Why so angry? Why so fearful? I suspect it is the lack of morality in your worldview that makes you fearful of those who live by standards you cannot uphold. I get why you are scared. It doesn’t have to be this way. You too can find peace. But probably not as a liberal. Change can be scary. Embrace it.
OP is correct. Think about it, people.
I thought about the OP's comment on higher standards. And then I saw a vision of Donald Trump cheating on his pregnant wives. I thought about the comment about change. And I realized that conservatism is a philosophy based on fear of change to the social order. I thought about peace, and Jesus came to mind. He said we should take in the stranger and care for the poor and oppressed. So I thought about it. But probably not the way you wanted me to.
Jesus said ''teach them to fish'' not to stuff them with freebies. America takes those who are oppressed. Does not mean the country has to take everyone who think that they are oppressed or to open it's borders.
Ha! Ha! Ha! Another moral-touting conservative who thinks he/ she is living by the Bible but is actually being brainwashed by whoever is out there brainwashing you guys. I'm not a Republican but guess what, I'm a Christian and I know my Bible. I'm also pretty well educated about other religions and am not afraid of them. Jesus never, ever said to teach them to fish - go ahead, get your Bible and look it up by topic in the back. Find anything? Didn't think so. Now I'll give you that it's a pretty good saying but just not Biblical. Do you know what really Jesus said about the hungry? He said to feed them. Period. No qualifications. Also he entered into relationships with them and didn't judge them from afar. Not exactly what I'm seeing from the Republicans...
Interesting. Not the PP, but do you follow these teachings when it comes to poor whites living in flyover country? (You know, those you and your fellow liberals mock on a daily basis for being "stupid" and "uneducated.") Or just to poor minorities?
I'm PP above who knows my Bible (and I'm not even a Dem - I used to lean Rep until their awful policies compelled me to abandon them). I'm actually originally from flyover country and probably know more poor whites than 90% of the people on this forum. I'm not from OK or KS but I deplore what the Republicans have done there in slashing taxes and education budgets - those policies are hurting the poor whites in flyover country way more than liberal exhortations to be more compassionate. Our family helps support a community college in a small rural town that provides some amazing job training. I do think the liberal focus on how everyone should go to a 4-year college is a mistake and am glad to see a resurgence of community college interest as a respectable and viable option. I don't agree with many of the Democrat solutions in addressing poverty but I would pick them any day over the hate-filled fear-based rhetoric coming out of the Republicans. We need to invest in education so that the workforce is better prepared for the jobs of today and tomorrow and not put protectionist laws in place like the recent steel tariffs which won't do anything over the long-term to create jobs. Republicans lost a huge opportunity with their recent big tax cut to build in incentives to create jobs and just gave money away to get very little benefit.
