MY DC 3rd Grader Got reject letter Cogat 142 NNAT 114 GBRS: Dont know Does it make sense to re appeal? Or try giving Wisc or its too late now?
Contact your AART and ask for a copy of the packet, which will include the GBRS. Mine sent it home with DC the next day. Not too late to appeal. If you want to appeal with a WISC, contact GMU or a private provider.
Picked by the file his GBRS is 12. I noticed that the form where the Cogat scores are filled had scores from last year, is this normal?
Do you mean both his 2nd and 3rd grade CogAT scores were included? Or only 2nd (I am assuming her retook it in 3rd for purposes of reapplying)?
Only 2nd Grade was included, 3rd grade score was not there in the file
When my child applied in 3rd grade only his 3rd grade scores were there (they were better than his second grade scores). I think that improved his chances. Also, read the comments in the GBRS. I think they are very telling. I've seen a few packets (from my kids and friends) and you can often tell the difference between a kid with lots of detailed interesting comments and just run of the mill basic comments. They are not allowed to write negative things, so you have to read between the lines. I knew my DC had a very good chance when he had a page and a half of very specific detailed comments, including "Little Johnny often engages adults in conversation because he lacks an intellectual peer in his class." There are some comments, like that one, that very clearly indicate the teachers think the child needs AAP, verses the more general comments that can be found.
Did you have your third grader retake through FCPS? I suspect DC's old second grade scores were still there because those were the from the test assessed by FCPS while the new scores were from GMU.
Retake was in school and I got response from AART teacher that it was mistake and new score were not sent, so we will do a re appeal based on new score
