TJ parent: My kid went to the "top math and science magnet school in the country!" Base parent: Wow! That's amazing! What college did he/she end up at? TJ parent: UVA. Base parent: Oh, that's where my kid is going! TJ parent: My kid is majoring in CS or engineering or similar major and is in top 10%. What about your kid? Base parent: Studying education or communication and minoring in Sociology. I think s/he is in the bottom 50%. We are really working the "connections" to get him/her a job after graduation.
Wait a minute, so you think studying education is a bad thing? Would you make fun of that major, to say, all of your child’s teachers, who helped him develop into the person who eventually got into TJ? Or to your child’s TJ teachers? TJ parents really are a piece of work!
Most teachers at TJ have Ph.D., J.D., Masters in subject areas such as math, physics, English, history etc.
