Not a fan of Trump. And I totally believe this story since he has no empathy. BUT - I honestly don’t think he intended to offend. He most likely thought he was saying the right thing re: he knew what he signed up for. Another translation of that statement is he volunteered to serve his country in a dangerous occupation, and gave the ultimate sacrifice. It’s just that Trump summarizes and articulates in a way that is less than comforting.
I don't think anyone believes he said this in order to be an assh*le. He just *is* an assh*le. Like someone else said - the people who love him love him. They are able to see the insane and weird and stupid things he does and find some way to make it all right, even though anyone else doing or saying the same thing would be correctly lambasted. For the rest of us, it's just another day in the disturbing world of living with this assh*le in charge.
Exactly.. the problem is that we have a POTUS who lacks any kind of empathy and has NPD. He's managed to insult almost every group, both domestic and internationally. He even managed to insult his own child when he said that he didn't want his son to be called Don Jr in case he turned out to be a loser. This is the kind of man he is. It's one thing to make a policy mistake; it's another to just be a flat out a-hole.
