Saw a some dude wearing Pedophile $tate U t-shirt at a Starbucks in Arlington...stared his bitch A$$ down...
Do you really stare down every Penn State grad wearing the t shirt that you see? Bc how do you get anything else done? There are a LOT of them in this area - second only to Philadelphia, I think. The Clarendon to Ballston corridor seems full of young grads wearing the gear - esp during football season.
Dp. Actually, the gear has been MUCH less obvious over the past few years. But the grads are there, yes. It's like a high achievement for them to get a govt job that tops out at a GS-14
Don't know if Penn State gear has declined here or not -- have only lived here for 2 yrs and prior that was in Philadelphia were Penn Staters are still out in full force and often get into drunken arguments with others that their school is just as good as the ivy Penn. I do think a GS14 job that'll have them making 130-140k within 5-10 yrs is a HUGE achievement for many of these kids. Many are from central Pa. and would LOVE to have stayed there but there aren't enough jobs to accommodate all the new grads in areas that are already economically challenged and places like Harrisburg and Philadelphia have only so many openings. So I think DC is the next option (probably bc NYC is overwhelming and lots of these kids don't have that kind of hustle) -- and yes -- to them and their families a new grad starting a 60k job that'll eventually top out at 130k is winning at life -- bc lots of their parents in Pa are struggling and to them the fact that their son will be making 130k at 32 is unbelievable and instead of thanking the GS scale for that, they credit Penn State.
