How can this thread keep on moving from Bethesda not allowing the 2016s play in the summer to Sal and Achilles? Whoever is pushing that is just making the 2016s wanting to learn more about Achilles
People are so juvenile. Achilles came up along with Coppermine as two of the majors clubs that have emerged over the past 10 years that traditionally sent kids directly to Bethesda. A poster was explaining why Bethesda is not developing super teams anymore. The very next comment discredited Achilles and then a few comments started in that direction. We are at BSC. We also like Achilles and train with Achilles players and Coach Vinn periodically. I feel fortunate to have two great programs in my backyard. I am pretty sure most DCUM parents cannot handle the F-you mentality of Sal and Vinn at Achilles anyway. They will clutch their pearls when they see there is no first team and earn your spot week after week by how you practice.
True. Plus this thread, and all threads involving Achilles FC (or those threads with a geographic nexus to Achilles FC) get trolled by a single parent who’s son didn’t make the initial cut to the MLSNext team a couple years ago. It’s so annoying but you’ll notice it time and time again.
I am not being facetious, what does an FU mentality mean? Coach has unquestioned authority, harsh language, constantly critical?
Achilles is confident in their training methods and demanding of the kids. There are some parents who have one child there and then another child elsewhere. Only 1 of my kids is wired for their environment. I think people really need to know their kids. They know they have a great training product. They are not salesman and do not really cater to parents like other clubs. That is what is meant by a F-U mentality. The only negative feedback I received from a parent was that the coaches do not care about winning at all. In Italy, the youth system does not track standings until U14 I believe. I think they are mirroring that model and focusing on development and don’t care what parents think about the kids losing.
You have Stockholm Syndrome to say a coach cussing-out and swearing at young kids is okay. As for the getting blown out constantly and consistently. What development is happening if they can't score, keep the ball or stop the other team from scoring in lopsided losses? They teaching thick skin and the art of profanity with lack of impulse control?
I wrote that. My child does not play for Achilles. They play for BSC. My kid sometimes trains in their environments and those kid sometimes come over to BSC environments. I am talking 1st team level. You folks are worrying about a few choice words from a coach while my kids have teammates from their private school calling other players the n-word and dropping f-bombs all over the field at the ages of 11-12. We seem to be living in glass houses about what the expectations are from a coach versus what is taking place at home from “the parents.” I did not say anything about getting blown out consistently helping development. You should reevaluate what you are reading because I try to be careful and measured in my responses. You may confusing what you are reading. If you don’t know how not keeping score and the desire to win is hurting development, you need to read a lot more about the ego and mindset because you are main subtext in the TV shows Friends and Neighbors and White Lotus my friend.
So a bunch of spoil brats not being raised right at home cursing and swearing during games at each other makes it okay for an adult coach to curse and swear at children?
