You are assuming a club’s existing teams need to already be at the level of the league before they can be invited to join. That is not always the case. Joining a new league is not a promotion/relegation model. In some cases, a club is given entry to a league and then they can use that credential to create brand new teams. The level of the current teams doesn’t really matter because the understanding is they will form new teams with many new players. This is what happened with VRSC’s and other club’s added to GA.
What happened with VRSC getting into GA was that the FCV staff decided to leave TSJ for a more-certain future in terms of field space/facilities (and, in at least one case, more money). With MJ having previously left FCV for VRSC, the line of communication to CC was already there. CC's connections and proven track record (with FCV) in the GA sealed that deal. But I agree with you that VRSC's existing teams had nothing to do with them getting accepted into the GA.
The reality is that VRSC has a vision, an execution plan to realize that vision, the financial backing to underwrite it, and a track record of successfully executing key initial steps in the plan (including acquiring what without question is the best youth soccer complex in the DMV, recruiting some of the most experienced coaches on the girls side in the DMV, and convincing GA to let them join the leage when their girls teams were not even close to GA level). I don’t know why people are so negative about a club that is genuinely attempting to bring a true academy experience to the DMV, unless they’re from clubs who stand to lose.
What makes it a true academy experience? Serious question. Not trolling. What makes it different than any other program in the area?
I didn’t mean to suggest they are even remotely at that point yet, just that this is what they are trying to achieve. True pathway from ulittle to pro, including their own professional teams for men and women. Ask them. They have a presentation that describes exactly what their goals are and the plan to achieve them. Not sure, maybe it’s on their website.
They have a presentation! They should start paying DCUM for all of the advertising they do on this site. Reeks of desperation
This right here. You wouldn’t have those Europeans upping up their model here if things weren’t as bright and shiny as some are trying to make it sound. Some parents are in for a rude awakening when yet again they have to announce no MLS next for boys and the GA teams are just incapable of competing against the big clubs
Becasue the ECNL teams in NOVA are so dominant right!? VRSC will be class of NOVA before its all said and done. ABC leagues come and go but Raventek will live on!
ECNL around DMV is a joke. How many teams are there within an hour drive? Yes, somehow 100's of nationally rankable players live that close to each other for each she group on both boys and girls side. 🤣 How they do outside our DC bubble speaks volumes. Clubs need to worry less about a newer club like VRSC and more about stealing talent from neighboring ECNL clubs and vice versa.
Don't worry ECNL clubs won't be stealing any talent from VRSC
