Research was published in 2021 in which digital security and deep learning researches examined images of Melania in the context of widespread claims about her alleged body double. Not only did they confirm (as expected) there is no body double, but interestingly enough, people tended to think images where she wore more makeup, was smiling, not wearing sunglasses, and facing people (as opposed to dour expressions, face directed away from the camera, less makeup, and/or  sunglasses) were more likely to be the "real" Melania. They turned that into a "femininity" score score (probability the person is female) which they incorporated into the facial recognition process.

They concluded the answer to the question whether there's a body double is a definite no.

Anyway, since the grim Melania looks more like Donald than the smiling Melania to me that's an argument that the grim woman is definitely the real Melania.

(As for whether spouses' faces change, Stanford research found that is not the case, but people do tend to marry partners with similar faces.)
