The people trying to make something out of Shapiro really don’t under the Jewish community. I and every Jew i know is relieved Harris didn’t pick Shapiro. We all understood the anti-Semitic barrage the Trump campaign was preparing to launch. It was obvious they thought stoking anti-Semitic sentiment would win them Michigan. We are all very happy those attacks aren’t going to happen now.
OMG, now I’ve heard everything. Shapiro wasn’t chosen *because of the massive amount of antisemites ON THE LEFT* who would have caused absolute havoc rioting at the DNC (and elsewhere). Progressives have been harassing Jews and anyone pro-Israel for months now. Harris knew that choosing a pro-Israel Jew as her running mate would lose the “progressive” vote. In short, she totally appeased the antisemites in YOUR party. But how typical that you would conjure up fantasies of Republicans engaging in an antisemitic barrage. We’ve all seen with our own eyes the pro-Hamas antisemites on the left. Keep up that gaslighting.
Shapiro wasn't chosen because he pulled himself out of consideration. Let's just stop with the nonsense.
He wasn’t chosen because Democrats, Socialists, Communists, or whatever they’re calling themselves today hate Jews.
The various Jewish Senators and Congressmen, Governors and the second Gentlemen would all disagree.
Admit it, we’ve reached our Jewish ceiling.
Remind me which of those Jewish governors, senators, and congressmen are republicans?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jewish_American_politicians
So 0 governors, 0 senators, and 2 representatives. Seems like republicans have a Jewish problem.
You didn't click on the link to Congress. There it says,
This is a list of Jewish members of the United States Congress. As of 2023, there are nine Jewish senators and 26 Jewish members of the House of Representatives serving in the United States Congress.
Plus, if you check the listing in the table for Chuck Schumer, it adds the note
First Jewish Senate Majority Leader and Senate Minority Leader[29]
He is currently the Senate Majority Leader. Anthony Blinkin is current Secretary of State and fourth in line in the Presidential Line of Succession (behind VP, Speaker of the House, Senate Pro Tempore). Janet Yellin is current Secretary of the Treasury and fifth in line in the Presidential Line of Succession Merrick Garland is current Attorney General and 7th in line. We have not reached the Jewish ceiling. The primary reason that Shapiro was not chosen was because the timing was bad. In addition, he has some additional skeletons in the closet. Right now, the Israeli-Gazan war is a major news issue. And unfortunately, there are incidents in Shapiro's past that make his choice now, based on his prior actions (like his reaction to pro-Palestinian protests in PA) make him one that would be more hurtful than helpful to the ticket. In the future, when the was in the Middle East is not such a big headline issue, then that may be less of any issue. There are other Jewish Americans who may be able to withstand the historical vetting process in the future, especially when this major issue is no longer so major.
