Agree that coaches will find talent wherever it is. But there will be more talent in ECNL than GAL this year and that difference will only grow over time. Some GAL teams will be excellent and more power to coaches that can keep them together. But ECNL is a proven, stable pathway for all involved in girl’s youth soccer and if they didn’t collapse going against the DA/US Soccer they will have no problem with the GAL long term
And yet ECNL nearly doubled in size after DA. That is the definition of watered down and that means there will be talent scattered throughout both leagues. ECNL is no longer the filter of concentrated talent they once were. Unlike 5 years ago college coaches have to scour more and more games because there are that many more teams. When at one time a coach could watch a FCV vs McLean game and know they were watching the best 36 kids in NOVA. How has going from two ECNL clubs to four clubs in NOVA made college scouting “easier”? How has it made ECNL better or more elite when 5 years ago 36 kids would be in CCL or EDP not ECNL? So basically, yeah, the league patches are meaningless now because everyone has a patch these days.
Back it up
