And the IDF ground operation in Lebanon has begun.
Good. The IDF is doing Lebanon a favor by ridding it of those terrorist losers, Hezbollah.
And this is the heartless attitude that creates lifelong enemies. Real humans are dying. It’s not to be celebrated if the deaths are Israelis so why would you celebrate when the deaths are from Lebanon?
The Israeli and Israeli American perspective is that Israel is assuming all the risk and genuinely doing the world a favor. They also think it is sad but that it sadly has to be done to save the world. This is what they tell themselves and read on ynet.
They (not all) aren’t worried about creating NEW enemies. They have a cultish belief that everyone is already antisemitic and that if they venture too far from the tribe and mingle with gentiles they will eventually be met with hatred, violence, or attempts to convert them. That their only safe space is each other - is fundamental to their belief system. Religion is a system that reinforces itself. Judaism isn’t the only religion to use fear to reinforce insular community.
How to you reconcile this theory with the fact that like 70 percent of Jews marry non-Jews?
Because for many (most?) Jews in America, being Jewish is not a religion but an identity.
I'm aware of that, but the PP claims that Jews are afraid to mingle with gentiles. Clearly they aren't.
I was talking about a core belief within the religion system that is readily espoused. This tenet warns religious Jewish people that their religious identity will be threatened and it is a betrayal to the Jewish people who came/suffered before if their jewish beliefs fade. If you’re Jewish, this rings true to you, even if you don’t believe it yourself. Ask your proud Zionist friends and/or the ones who went to private jewish schools. I know a number of interfaith jewish couples. Marriage doesn’t mean the issue isn’t there, especially when children and extended family are involved.
I AM Jewish (was raised Orthodox and went to private Jewish schools), and I haven't a clue what you're going on about.
How can you not have a clue? the justification for Zionism and Israel is protection against perceived ever-present threats against Jews.
