This is what’s crazy to me.

How can we let Putin roll into Ukraine and just take it? Does anyone believe he will stop at just Ukraine? Why would he when it’s so easy to just take it?

He has nukes, and he’s not afraid to use them. I’m convinced he has a terminal diagnosis and is pulling the trigger on his long term plan to rebuild now because he has nothing to lose. If you’ve watched him speak recently, it’s clear he’s not going to back down.

We should have helped Ukraine as soon as Russia started firing missiles. Now the US looks weak to Russia as well as Ukraine and the rest of the world who assumed we would help.

"WE" should have... Why all the focus is only on the USA? Aren't there many more countries in NATO who should have stepped in, especially given how much closer they are to this conflict and given that they rely on the oil pipeline more? Where is Germany on this? I think there are many more pieces to this puzzle that many don't have any idea about.   Not pretending to be an expert on this, I am still trying to catch up on the history of this conflict and what happened when Ukraine became independent, and the other conflict that happened in 2014.  The other logical questions that puzzle me are what was promised during the Minsk accord that ended the conflict in 2014, and why this is no longer viable?   Also why is this happening NOW when apparently there is this whole history to this conflict and Putin had many other opportunities?  there were many years between 2014 when the government Putin doesn't like was installed.  Trump only came to power in 2016, and it was quiet there then, what agreements did he have and did they fall apart?  then it was Covid, and Russia isn't really out of their current Covid wave yet.. And apparently the pandemic isn't over.. But it no longer is grabbing all the headlines anymore and the focus has clearly shifted.  Is this a convenient end of one crisis to plunge us into another?

My main question is why are other countries not involved so much in anything other than sanctions, have they pledged their troops?  Had they agreed to accept Ukranian refugees, help evacuate people? They teased Ukraine with NATO membership and EU membership (I may be wrong on this) and then they seem to have thrown it under the bus? What was Biden's son involvement there, was is purely economical?

If you know more or had been following the history of this region more, do tell, I don't know enough, just have these questions pop up trying to explain and prepare for what's next. [/quote]

The reason to ask this question is to stop focusing entirely on the USA, I don't want this to be a real war between USA and Russia, it's scary.  I am terrified of the prospect of having a real war with the two countries: China and Russia, they are no Iraq or Afganistan or anything else we went to war with before.  There was a reason we held off going into a full blown conflict with Russia for decades. We had a "cold war" , this is different, it's a physical war being unleashed in this day and age in a region you wouldn't expect to see.  Cyber war they are trying to wage and especially if amateur hacker idiots try to do this won't end well for us all either.  I want to focus on what exactly the agreements were that ended it in 2014 and if something we can hope that can be reached again before this gets bad.[/quote]
