With the age group change, changing how they run try-outs to separate out RL from NCSL (last year we had two nights total of combined tryouts and black team offers were sent the day after tryout 1) and Herndon's regular level of disorganization, I would expect offers much later which doesn't do anything for the people holding off offers from clubs who are more organized. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they are having turnout issues if they hold all the first team offers until the end of the second first team tryout, to make sure they get enough kids showing up....
I can’t imagine numbers are so low that they can’t fill up the first team on the boys side? You would think they would send offers quickly to the kids that they know they want back on the first team. I could see them holding off on sending offers to kids who are more on the bubble, that they are considering moving down. Presumably they would want to see if anyone else shows up who could be a better fit for those last few spots. It makes for some awkward conversations among parents, but that’s how we have seen it done elsewhere.
lots of herndon boys have been at the great falls tryouts - not sure if they have gotten offers yet but my u16 said there were lots of herndon kids at the great falls tryouts. if they got offers and accepted them already maybe their done with herndon and not even going to the tryouts.
Interesting. Didn't some GFR kids leave for Herndon in the recent past? Seems like the clubs keep trading players. Makes sense with how close together they are. Feels like it should all be one club, but egos will never allow it.
It certainly would make sense but seems like Herndon is happy with their Union "pathway"
Most GFR customers would not want to drive to Herndon fields, and most Herndon customers would not want to go all the way out to Great Falls to practice and that's doubly true for the rec programs where people want close practices and games so not sure a merger would make much sense at all. We drive 15 min to Herndon practice but would never go all the way out to GF to practice, that would be 40 min one way for us no thanks.
Bready Park is 15 mins from Nike and 15 minutes to Lake Fairfax. It's about as close as two clubs can get geographically.
Yeah, I don’t buy that anybody who lives within 15 minutes of Herndon fields would have a 40 minute drive to the fields where Great Falls practices. Herndon and GFR are neighboring clubs. That is a fact.
Correct. I live in Reston and most Herndon fields are closer to me than Lake Fairfax or Nike.
