Serious question: Does the psychology of workplace harassment operate the same as domestic abuse? I often see people conflating the two when it comes to the case. Like on r/IEWU, someone who was abused said she also texted her abuser after the fact. Obviously victims go back to their abusers all the time and text them like nothing happened, which means a positive text doesn't prove an abuser's innocence. But does that dynamic map onto workplace relationships? Anyways, what struck me about Isabela's text is ... I don't know, she sent it randomly after seeing something that reminded her of JB. And she was very specific about how safe she felt. It wasn't just like a "Let's work again" text or generic in anyway, which makes the belief that she was uncomfortable on set harder to buy.
I’m not trying to be mean because I know that you asked this question in good faith, but to me it is absolutely absurd in borderline offensive to compare Isabella’s four days on set with domestic abuse. It is kind of insane that Justin would have some kind of hold on her that would give her some form of Stockholm syndrome.
Why would you need to be "mean"? The whole point of me asking that question is because I find it really hard to believe that workplace harassment IS equivalent to domestic abuse, but I wanted to be nice and have an open mind ask in case there's some literature out there suggesting the psychology is similar.
I don’t need to be mean, that’s the point. I’m simply acknowledging there’s a lot of snark on this thread, and I didn’t want to add to it by just bashing your argument. I think you did bring it up in good faith, but I was pointing out that I just disagree that four days on a set can be compared to any kind of domestic abuse. I’m not being close minded about that, I found it mildly offensive that you would suggest that. It seems at worse Isabella might’ve felt uncomfortable, and frankly that’s not even clear.
