This is a long thread and I admit I haven't been able to go through all of it. We may be moving to Western Loudoun County and we have a rising middle school DS who is expressing interest in lacrosse. Does anyone know anything about NOVA West? Do the coaches steer the kids to particular middle school or high school programs? We want to consider both public and private schools.
I won't be surprised if NOVA West folds soon - much of the talent has moved on to other local clubs. In Loudoun your best bet would be Cavalier Lacrosse. Evergreen is another local club, but they're just starting up their club program. EKLC also is based in Loudoun, but is more of a skills development club. Cavlax is fairly well established. If you're willing to drive further out, options open up to play for Madlax, VLC, Top Calibre, etc. NOVA West doesn't steer kids to a particular middle/high school. The kids are spread out all over Loudoun. If your kid is just getting started in lacrosse, I'd suggest joining the local rec league first (Dulles South or Ashburn) to get a gauge of where your son fits in talent wise. Lots of kids in the rec league play for all the clubs I just mentioned, and it will give you a basic idea of the level of lacrosse your son would be comfortable playing. Good luck!
