LOL.if only you knew. I live in a neighborhood that is orders of magnitude more diverse than SA and my kids go to Big 3.  I'm not unsophisticated white dude living in Gainesville or Centerville or Vienna or some equally hideously uncultured place.  I just want to know what bad decisions does one make that leads to kids at Wakefield?? [/quote]

Different poster.  Why not?  There are plenty of people who live in predominantly white neighborhoods and send their kids to private school because they think they'll get a better education.  What if the pp values diversity and still wants their kids to get a top notch education.  Sorry, but Wakefield doesn't compare to a Big 3.  There are plenty of people who, if they had the money for big 3, would never be caught dead in a diverse neighborhood.  The people on this board are so emotionally irrational about lower SES schools.  I live in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and am happy to have my kids live in an environment where they interact with people from all walks of life.  I think the schools aren't very good and we've finally decided to move after years of debating.  At least the pp is putting his money where his mouth is as far as valuing diversity.[/quote]

PP was trying to simultaneously get credit for living somewhere "more diverse" than south Arlington (22204 is about as diverse as it gets, except for maybe 22042 and 22046) but also said, effectively, that they pay enormous amounts of money to keep their child from attending school with the neighborhood children. Your kids may get the message that you value education, but you better believe they are getting other messages, too, starting with "what's good enough for those other kids isn't good enough for you." I'm not raising my kids to think that way. [/quote]
