Because there is no way that any politician or military leader is going to want to deal with the possibility of a pregnant woman being killed in a military operation -- even if she is early in the pregnancy.

So either the military is going to force birth control or they're going to test for pregnancy periodically.  And of course, it will be a given that pregnancy is a valid excuse for not being drafted or being discharged.

This isn't an issue for women who voluntarily enlist because the idea is that it is their choice, they go into it knowing the risks and issues.

I think that is the touchiest issue.

The other problem is that the military has a lot of problems with rape and sexual assault.  If they are going to force women to serve, they need to do a better job at dealing with that issue.[/quote]
