I am starting to think OP is a troll, because if the fake suprise that lunch is missing and knowing the policy of acceptable lunches. It would've been funnier if OP said, sending my child with hostess pies, Twinkies and mountain dew why is it getting taken?
Oh you think this doesn't happen? I used to volunteer for my DC's K/1 lunch, and I saw a couple of kids with a full 12oz can of Mountain Dew. I felt so sorry for the teachers of those kids that will be returning to class full of sugar and caffeine. This was not at a Title 1 school. I have also seen fruit cups as well, and those horrid lunchables. And to the other PP who made fun of "seaweed and quinoa" ... my DC *loves* seaweed. When DC takes them for lunch, other kids around her want them. They don't like quinoa, though, and neither do I. Occasionally, I'll pack a cookie or doughnut along with a the fruit and other healthier food. Find balance. That's the key.
