Turning 18 is our society's marker for becoming a legal adult. When I was that age, we were very aware that yes does not mean yes if the other person is a minor who has not yet reached the age of consent. We were taught that when a legal adult has sex with an underage minor child, that constitutes statutory rape, regardless of whether the minor said yes.
