No one is defending the conduct, of course.  This is something that should obviously be subject to discipline from relevant university authorities, as has in fact happened.  But this low-rent fraternity misbehavior is, even now, the top story on cnn.com's "Top Stories" sidebar.  Seriously?  How on earth is this *national* news?  [/quote]

Because people want to believe that bullshit mantra that this is a post-racial society and it is not.  You have educated, presumably financially well-off young kids regaling and chanting about lynching people because of the color of their skin in 2015, not 1915.  That's why it is national news.  Apparently the meter has not moved too far for many in their thoughts and actions.   [/quote]
