I grew up in Pittsburgh, near Washington, PA, and about 25% of the western PA natives call it Warshington, PA.  Never understood why then and still don't now.

I actually have no idea.  My dad grew up outside of Pittsburgh, but my mom grew up in the MD/DC area. I also say CROWN instead of Crayon.  And sometimes say Y'all (although that was mostly when I was younger).  When I talk here, most people do not notice it, but I lived in Southern California for ten years and many people there commented on it.  If I really slow down and form my words deliberately, I can speak 'correctly', but I am Italian....I talk fast and use my hands. A lot.  [/quote]
