My childhood pool had a full bar with cocktails/hard liquor at summer swim meets. Imagine a meet today with a bunch of dads in shirtsleeves with their dress pants rolled up and ties flipped over their shoulders timing a meet with a gin and tonic in hand.

Moms did scoring and bullpen because it was widely agreed that they were the only ones who could handle the computers. This was in the mid to late 80s and I can only guess that bar sales were fueling the purchase of multiple computers and elaborate support equipment all to be used solely for children’s summer rec swimming. One pool in our league has a tiki bar and we all still look back fondly on that meet. I didn't see a single person drunk. Everyone just enjoyed a frozen margarita when it was 95 degrees out. I'm sure they rake in the money with that cute bar. [/quote]
