I'm a fed. Teacher work days on federal holidays works best for me since I'm already off. The other random days either require me to burn leave or pay $$$ for some camp. I hate it.
I’m a teacher. I want holidays, too. And no, I don’t get paid time off in the summer.
+1 these parents are nuts. It’s all about what’s best for them and their work schedule and no thought whatsoever as to what teachers need. I hope Reid continues to offer 4 day weeks. It really helps.
LOL, teachers complain about being underpaid but can't even work 5 days a week. Talk about lazy and entitled.
Teachers work a set number of days: 195. Whether it’s 4-day weeks or 5-day weeks, they get paid for the same amount of days. There’s nothing entitled about that. (We also work weekends and evenings, so nothing lazy about that.)
They get paid for 195 days. This year they *worked* significantly fewer due to weather and Reid thinking children belong outdoors in tornado conditions.
What does this mean?
It means they are upset because Reid had an early dismissal that day. They wanted the kids in school full day like Loudoun where they kids spent 2 hours in hallways crouched down in tornado position. Just so they could have that productive full day and not have to deal with childcare.
40 min. But sure let’s put them on busses instead! Those are notoriously safer in tornadoes than school buildings.
