I applied for a job that I think I’m a perfect fit for. I haven’t heard back yet. If this was a position you were hiring for, would you want to hear from me, just to alert you to my application (which may be in a pile of 1000s) and to reiterate my strong interest in the job? Is there anything I could do at this point that you’d like to see, or is it better to just wait?
I'm not the OP but I am also in recruiting. It doesn't hurt to send a LinkedIn message directly to the recruiter(s). Particularly for our internships, we get THOUSANDS of applications and unfortunately we can't possible go through them all. I've had interns message me direclty on LI, which then prompts me to find/view their application in our system. We have hired interns this way who definitely would not have gotten eyes on their resume otherwise. Essentially, anything you can do to differeniate yourself. If the company has a careers/recruiting inbox, send a brief note there mentioning your application and reiterating your interest. If you have any LI connections at the company, reach out to them.
