I can't stand Trump. I disagree with many of his policies vehemently. I also was disgusted for three years as my elected leaders and their minions lied to me repeatedly regarding their ability to control our national borders. And they in fact worked against the majority opinion of Americans that uninvited people should largely not be released into the country, where they, as foreigners, have no right to be. So I voted for Trump to stop the lies and disrespect for American citizens, and guess what, he showed, despite all his faults, that our government was not powerless, and it could do something about the problem. I'm sorry it came to that, but maybe listen to the American people next time.
I can’t even fathom what you tried to say.
DP. And that’s why Dems will lose again.
So you think that Americans support ICE?
NP. I hate the creation of an unregulated secret police in this country, but I think there is a lot more support for ICE than you’d want to believe. The anger about unchecked immigration under Democrats and particularly the costs associated with that runs very deep and has been building for many years. I am not even sure that ICE will be a negative for the Republicans in the next election. People might not like it the methods, but they want the overall outcome even if they won’t admit it. It’s sort of like how the polls wildly underestimated Trump’s support in 2016.
Have you looked at even one poll this year? Or any election results?
Democratic Party support for illegal immigration, open borders, undermining enforcement of immigration laws, and immigration agents, and giving illegal immigrants a "path to citizenship" may be very unpopular with most of the electorate, but Democrats should not change it. Support for illegal immigrants is a way for affluent white people to feel superior to merely middle class and working class white people. It feels good. And we don't need to change it. Why should we? The polls in this first year of Trump's second term show him already less popular than when he won the election a year ago. So it seems obvious that Democrats don't need to change policies or look too hard at what went wrong in 2024. We can just sit back and let our sweet victory in 2028 happen automatically. The voters may have voted for strong borders in 2024, but they won't make that mistake again. Trump is obviously a clown, so we'll easily beat any non-Trump Republican nominee in 2028 while we keep up the fight for illegal immigrant rights.
