Might be true for some women, but not as widespread as you assert.
Np Staying single rather than settle - especially if children are a consideration - needs to be widespread.
Apparently you do not know many folks age 50 and above who are single. They complain of loneliness. Better to have a companion than to suffer through a lonely life.
DP. Apples and oranges. Those are totally different generations raised with the idea that a woman needs a man to be complete. Although...when I think about it, I've known and currently know a lot of divorced 50+ women from different walks of life. Excellent writing! You are making me lol!! What you say is true! -Woman married to a man Not one has ever expressed anything except ruefulness and, often, disdain for marriage. Some miss financial stability. Others hate that their ex got away with doing less parenting. A couple are annoyed they wasted their prime dealing with shitty married sex. However, not a single one has said they miss being married or want to be married again. Maybe things are different for older men because men typically enter marriage to siphon benefits. I can see how it would suck for such a lopsided arrangement in their favor to end.
