I guess the English Teacher/gym teacher thing (she's just making a joke about how she's kind of bookish nerd and he's a jock, it's not that deep) but I don't get your comment. What joke are they in on? They strike me as medium emotionally intelligent -- obviously not totally obtuse but also, like a lot of celebrities, probably a bit oblivious and self-centered. Even posting this announcement in this way speaks to being mildly tone deaf.
