I think the key with dance is to find the right studio for your kid. I know for us it literally took years and a lot of trial and error. My kids will never be professional dancers and have no interest in that but still love ballet. We finally found a local studio that teaches what I would describe as recreational (vs. pre-professional) classes but with a focus on good technique and still offers a few performances during the year. The atmosphere is very positive and low-key. This is hard to find though. [/quote]
