Men used to give money to women for sex—that was the basis of the relationship. Today, women don’t need money as much. Women are free to choose based on non-financial characteristics and do so. Many men understand they aren’t offering enough to satisfy women and retreat accordingly. The issue is that women all want the same few men, so those men now get sex without having to pay. Unfortunately, most women can’t articulate the reasons why a man they like should give them a relationship. The women aren’t getting a relationship and bonding decreases overall. Women have not had freedom to choose maybe ever, so they evolved to fit the prior system. There will be significant growing pains for a new system; however, global birth rates suggest the future will be much more retrograde.
I have no idea what this means - but if you’re basically saying that as society has evolved, especially as technology proliferates, it’s created/allowed to exist men and women with fatal personality flaws that will mean the “eligible” pool of mates shrinks on both sides - I think you are correct. Men are increasingly radicalized into weird fringe beliefs and women are told they have to have it all and that getting anything from a man is a sign of dependence and that anything other than this and they’re a failure. This creates impossible expectations and high anxiety. Each extreme is magnified by the existence of the other. I hope social media dies. It’s hard to know this but there’s a huge number of lovely men and women who exist. The book Bowling Alone was prophetic. To get find people offline understand the book. You don’t have to join a bowling league - but maybe softball or kickball? Church? Rock climbing? Whatever it is - find a social circle of people whose feet touch the ground. I guess I’m an old timer now but i was shocked when I learned softball and kickball are “sus” now. We get what we deserve and the declining social connectedness and fabric is self imposed by consumption of social media being a substitute for actual human interaction.
