The surplus is used for admin costs, rainy day funds or to float less profitable other rec sports. Do the math. An NCSL rec team. 17 players each paying $200 for a season of rec ($3400). They don't get turf practice space-grass fees are basically free. Volunteer coach is free. NCSL charges $100 per team. The only other cost is referees for 4 home games, say $150 per game. Huge profit to the rec league. [/quote]
