My Junior is seriously considering going abroad. We will be going to the UK in June to tour 6-7 schools (Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Manchester, Durham, Exeter, Warwick and Bristol). Just worried about the hate americans will be getting there given our gov actions in the international stageā¦
DS is awaiting Edinburgh and St Andrews decisions, but we do worry about how Americans are viewed there.
DP. Just my personal experience, but: My spouse is English, we visit there often, and see family and friends all over (Scotland and Wales as well as England). PP, I would not worry about how individual Americans are viewed. While people in the UK are not fans of this utterly execrable administration, I've never yet seen anyone over there conflate Trumpism with individual American students or tourists. I've actually gotten only pity and commiseration coming my way, when people there realize I'm from the US. Your college student will be fine. Any bellend who tried to make your kid a target for anti-US sentiment would probably get sorted quickly by other students!
