Can someone explain to me how we know Dr Robbie has a son? How did I miss it?!
There was a high school/college kid that visited and everyone gave him condoms. He was clearly well known and beloved by the staff. He came to pick up a pass to a festival, and Dr. Rabi gave him it. Said something about his mother.
I didn’t think that kid was Dr. Rabi’s though. Wasn’t he Latino?
I thought he was Robby's son, and the discussion here seemed totally bizarre to me. But according to the episode summary on wiki: "Jake, the son of Robby's deceased mentor, briefly visits..." But why would Jake ask Robby for money? Why would Robby ask him if he was having sex? Oh wait, other episode summaries describe Jake as Robby's son. So who knows.
I am rewatching this episode now. Evidence that Jake is Robby's son: *when Jake tells a nurse that he was supposed to go to a concert with Robby but is taking a girl instead, the nurse replies, "so you ditched the old man?" *Jake never calls him Robby *the conversations between Robby and Jake seem very father-and -son. Robby says, "glad you stuck around." Jake replies, "not like I had a choice, did I?" Jake asks Robby, "How's your day going?" Robby says, with mild suspicion, " You never ask me about my work, what gives?" (Implies that they spend a lot of time together) Jake says his mother told him to ask if Robby is okay; Robby says in a very perfunctory way, like it's of her business, "that's very nice of her, I'm fine" (sounds like he's speaking about an ex-wife, not the wife of his deceased mentor). Robby says, "hold up," and opens his wallet; Jake says, "Please don't give me a condom," and Robby says, "I was going to give you extra cash. Wait, are you having sex?" (Surely this exchange could only happen between a parent and child?) Evidence that Jake is not Robby's son: *Jake never calls him "Dad," and no one else ever refers to Robby as his dad (they ask, "are you going to the concert with Robby?" not "with your dad?" I really think they are father and son, but it's possible they aren't.
