Immigrant parents and those with children who are POC, prepare them for how to stay safe and get reunited with you afterwards. Consider sending your kids to school with photocopies of their BC or passport. And if your kids are too little to remember important info, get them an ID bracelet. Give older kids an ACLU card that tells them what they don’t have to do if questioned by LEOs. Even if your kid is White or White-presenting, they will be emotionally impacted. My school is suspending rollout of our cellphone lock up system in response to the anticipated ICE raids in our region. Parents won’t send their kids if they have no way to reach them if a raid starts.
Don't drag African Americans into this. We are not affected by this. So we are not "emotionally impacted", I guess just like whites, as you say.
It’s not about Black Americans who are easily identified as American. It’s Latinos. Not the Asians who are here illegally or Europeans,it’s the Latinos. They said they have found hundreds of criminals on day one but if they knew where they were why did they wait? ICE or local police have always had authority to arrest criminals. Even in sanctuary cities. They just won’t help with illegals who haven’t done anything wrong.
They are starting with Latinos, but Blacks and Asians are next on the list. Look at the hatred stirred up against Haitians who were here legally. I’m Afro-Latina with a Spanish first and middle name. I don’t think my 4a hair and full lips are going to save me from being asked to prove I’m a citizen.
