My kids attend a school in Ward 5 like those you lost, but I never mention it by name on this board because we are one of only a handful of white families and I feel easily identifiable.

But I'll just note my kids made it to their Title 1 school okay today (we were late due to traffic, road conditions, and my kids being very slow to get up after the snow days). Their teachers were at school, they had a fairly normal day, and the vast majority of their classmates were there.

I am sure some students were unable to make it and I am not happy about that, but I also know many students who WERE at school got a good breakfast and lunch and fun with friends and an opportunity to learn. That's good, right?

I would have been okay with a delay or another snow day but a lot of the other families we know would have to scramble for both.[/quote]
