This school board unanimously approved Monifa despite the teachers, principals telling them it was a bad move.  Many of the incumbents on the ballot and members of the BOE approved of the disastrous regime of Jack Smith.  You keep making terrible decisions and wrecking MCPS, you're going to be out.  The fact that Evans and Harris were surprised they lost shows how far out of touch they really are.  Good riddance and keep taking out the trash next election cycle.  Got to get that robot Silvestre out.   [/quote]

BOE members need to stop prioritizing that “united front” to the public. We did not ask for nor do we want it. It would have been helpful if BOE members voiced their disapproval or concerns about McKnight and her appointment had been debated and discussed in public.[/quote]

PP here. I agree with you, but it is a tricky issue in a strong superintendent state. BOE members don't have much real power, except to hire and fire a superintendent. What's left is the soft power of advising.

The power the BOE has is to direct the Superintendent and when presented with info by CO, to directly question and put dates to when they want followup shared with them AND the public.  [/quote]

The BOE has the power to demand evidence of the answers and to hold them accountable for lying to them in public. They choose not to because the BOE wants to present a "united front." But they'll tell you in private how frustrated they are by the lies CO tells them. [/quote]
