Has anyone come off of it and maintained weight loss? I follow a few instagrammers who say they did!!! I want to know if it is possible. Alternatively, has anyone slowly tapered off then just done a monthly maintenance dose?? I only need to lose 30 lbs but have been trying to lose the same 30 Lbs for 10 years!!!!
I believe the research is showing that most regain the weight they lost, relatively quickly, upon discontinuing the medication. And, like pretty much all diets, many will also gain a bit more than they lost. To avoid this, most will likely need a maintenance dose of Wegovy -- for a long time if not for life, to maintain the weight loss. What the insurance companies are going to say about paying for it for that long is going to be interesting. But I don't think anyone has figured out what the standard of care will be with this. My doctor says it's a life-long medication as obesity is a chronic condition. But like I said, we'll see what gets hammered out between big pharma, insurance companies/Medicare interests, and the medical establishment regarding standard of care after weight loss.
