I mean I get it. I know why. But it’s not great to have a ton of dudes wearing bike helmets driving $500 dollar Temu mopeds weaving in and out of traffic like we’re in fking São Paulo. These drivers pay no respect to traffic laws and many have no actual license. It’s just been a weird trend in the last few years. Glad the city is cracking down.
Ask the Border Czar.
I mean that’s a simplistic (although valid) attack that will go over most peoples’ heads. It’s probably not super far off from the truth. People in NYC are also mad and the gov is apparently cracking down there too because the massive amount of migrants using mopeds. Crazy it only gets noticed when you have to deal with the issue up-close and personal… try living in an area where a MASSIVE chunk of the population is undocumented and then get screwed over when they total your car while driving without insurance. Can’t get blood from a stone so you are SOL. Living outside the DC area somewhere with a large migrant population I know many people who experience this. Just saw a bad wreck on the local news yesterday where the at-fault driver left his car and walked away from EMS because according the grapevine he was undocumented and uninsured… Welcome to the new normal I guess, not just cordoned off in certain areas like it had been…
