[/quote] A LOT of the major state universities in the south & midwest offer automatic merit aid (ie, you don’t have to apply for it—it is seamlessly awarded based on GPA & ACT/SAT) that often brings the out-of-state premium down considerably. And you don’t have to be a genius to qualify for such merit aid. Sometimes even a 22 ACT will get you some. [/quote]
